At our Macfarlane Conversation events, we create a space for individuals with firsthand experience of the Contaminated Blood Scandal to come together and share their stories. These events, open to the entire community, often feature guest speakers who offer valuable insights and perspectives.
In the past, our speakers have included notable figures such as Brian O’Mahony, Chief Executive of the Irish Haemophilia Society; Wes Streeting MP, Shadow Health Secretary; Emma Dean, former Special Advisor across various government departments; Jason Evans, Founder of the Factor 8 campaign group; and Richard Angell, our current Chief Executive, along with his predecessor, Ian Green OBE. Keep an eye out for announcements about our upcoming events!
Furthermore, we are actively involving our service users in the development of tailored services that are designed by and for them. This collaborative effort is facilitated through our Service Panel, ensuring that the voices and needs of our community guide our initiatives.
In our ongoing efforts related to the Infected Blood Inquiry, Sir Robert Francis QC’s independent study on compensation options for victims, and collaboration with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood, we work closely with the Advocacy and Public Affairs Panel, comprising former Macfarlane Trust beneficiaries. Their input and expertise are invaluable as we navigate these complex issues together.
If you’re interested in joining either panel or participating in our quarterly Zoom conversations, please reach out to us using the contact details provided below. We welcome your involvement and contribution to our shared cause.
